What is the difference between a Taser and a Stun Gun?

Is a Taser the same as a stun gun? I want one of those stun guns that fires electricity through the air from a distance. I have found stun guns for $20 or so on eBay, but they don't mention that they fire anything.

Stun Guns & TASERS are NOT the same.
by: Andy - Admin

A TASER and Stun Gun are very different devices.

A TASER shoots 2 metal probes from the TASER device. The probes are connected to the TASER by wire which allows the power of the TASER to be transferred from the hand held unit to the 2 probes. When fired, the 2 probes are made to penetrate into the skin and attach. The 2 probes can reach up to 15 feet and due to the spread of the probes will be more effective than a stun gun.

A Stun Gun does not shoot anything and will only put power into the prongs on the front of the stun gun. A stun gun can be effective, but it is also risky to use at you need to be very close to someone to use it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
